The new IPG metalworking equipment was introduced in July 2014 at the modern production facility of NPP RUSMET. We are pleased to announce the launch of a new laser cutting machine by IPG, the world leader in the manufacture of laser equipment.

The 2 kW power of a laser source allows for performing high-quality cutting of sheet metal with a thickness of up to 16 mm. Thus, the use of a new type of metalworking in the procurement of NPP RUSMET will expand the range of metal cutting services offered to our customers. In addition to well-proven metal cutting technologies, both plasma cutting and gas cutting, the possibilities of laser cutting open up new perspectives for NPP RUSMET. It is worth reminding that in the blank production sector of the NPP RUSMET plant, metal plasma cutting has been widely used for several years. One of the most powerful sources of plasma cutting in the Central region of Russia, Hypertherm HPR 400 XD that allows for cutting any sheet metal up to 80 mm thick, is located here.

Laser cutting of metal is ideal for working with sheet metal of small thicknesses, the best cutting quality can be seen on sheet thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 8 mm. Such a tool is indispensable for the pilot division of NPP RUSMET, the production of tanks and food processing equipment, since complex shapes cut on CNC machines using laser cutting technology are often used in the manufacture of stainless tanks for the food industry.

Having received international recognition from the European steel company SSAB, the pilot NPP RUSMET plant has become a certified metal centre and a partner of Hardox wear parts program since January 2014. The IPG laser machine will produce unique wearproof parts made of Hardox of the highest quality for use in construction, quarrying, mining and processing highly loaded equipment.
