Less than 100 days are left to the opening of Sochi 2014 Olympic Games. Our country will welcome athletes from all over the world, that is over than 100 participating countries.

NPP RUSMET was trusted to produce flagpoles for the Olympic Games, on which flags of all countries participating in the winter games will flutter. May our small contribution to the Olympic movement bring many wins to our athletes.

During the production of flagpoles, the latest metalworking technologies were applied:

  1. The process of developing important metalwork was carried out using CAD tools on advanced PCs, which ensured the quick and accurate design documentation preparation.
  2. The active use of modern CAD applications to plasma cutting machines with numerical control (CNC) made it possible to obtain the optimal cutting of blanks from sheet metal with the most efficient utilization of the material. Such an approach to the organization of the preliminary stage of metalworking makes it possible to reduce in the future the time directly of the metal production process, reduce the costs of the material involved in the manufacture and reduce costs. For example, in the manufacture of flagpole tops, the “general cut" technological method was widely used; it is an element of combining cutting paths according to the principle of combining the sides of different parts into one and performing a joint cut. This approach, therefore, reduces consumption for cutting time, for electricity, gases, consumables, and of course directly the metal itself. Used metal: St3sp5 5 mm thick, hot-rolled steel plate of normal quality in accordance with GOST 19903-74.
  3. The use of the latest equipment for plasma cutting of metal, with one of the most powerful and accurate plasma sources Hypertherm HPR 400 XD, operating at currents of 400 Amperes, at the production sites of NPP RUSMET, made it possible to obtain even edges of blanks at the highest speeds of procurement cutting with an accuracy class not inferior to accuracy laser cutting of metal.
  4. The new hydraulic CNC bending press, with a working area of 3200 mm and a force of 80 tons, made it possible to obtain perfect bending of blanks with excellent repeatability of serial parts.
  5. Semi-automatic welding machines from the global manufacturer of welding equipment ESAB, working using MIG technology, were used during the final stage of the assembly of flagpoles.
  6. The final element in the production of flagpoles was the process of corrosion protection, using hot dip galvanizing technology. Such protection of metal products will guarantee a service life of more than 50 years.

We'd like to believe that in 50 years, new flags of other participants of future Olympic games will flutter on the same flagpoles.
